O ruptură (grijulie) în sacru

Graduated FAUT (Timișoara Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism) in 2021. While working as a full time architect I'm also engaged in an academic career, as a teaching assistant at FAUT, since 2023, where my contribution is made for both theoretical and practical courses. My work as a photographer revolves around exploring and capturing unique scenes or viewpoints that express a deeper understanding behind the complex relationship between a piece of architecture and its context. I believe they should enhance each other and work together. Great architecture is one that stands out by fitting perfectly in a place.

Places of worship are often approached with the expectation of encountering the transcendent. We enter them seeking silence, contemplation, or the presence of the divine. Instead, these photographs confront the viewer with something unexpectedly ordinary: a vacuum cleaner gliding across a prayer carpet, a floor scrubber tracing circles through a mosque courtyard, a worker vacuuming beneath the altar of Notre-Dame. Mircea Eliade described the sacred as a rupture from ordinary space—a realm set apart from the routines of everyday life. These images momentarily suspend that distinction. Rather than presenting architecture as an immutable vessel of the sacred, they reveal the quiet labour that allows it to remain one. The ordinary does not diminish the sacred; it reminds us that even the most transcendent spaces rely on the repetition of everyday acts of care.
