O curte interioară în practică

Graduated FAUT (Timișoara Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism) in 2021. While working as a full time architect I'm also engaged in an academic career, as a teaching assistant at FAUT, since 2023, where my contribution is made for both theoretical and practical courses. My work as a photographer revolves around exploring and capturing unique scenes or viewpoints that express a deeper understanding behind the complex relationship between a piece of architecture and its context. I believe they should enhance each other and work together. Great architecture is one that stands out by fitting perfectly in a place.

This series emerged unintentionally over several years, as I repeatedly found myself photographing the same backyard for different purposes. Only in retrospect did the images reveal themselves as a record not of a fixed place, but of its evolving memory. Aldo Rossi argued that architecture persists not only through its material presence but through the collective memory embedded within it. Seen together, these photographs suggest that memory is not preserved despite change, but precisely through it. Each intervention, done by different entities in different time periods, reflects a different understanding of how the space should be used. Some acts are careful, others indifferent; all leave traces. The backyard becomes a palimpsest where successive appropriations accumulate rather than replace one another. What remains is not a singular architectural vision but the visible sediment of decisions, occupations and neglect. The series speaks about the use of spaces as an ongoing practice, where meaning is continuously negotiated through use and time, and where memory resides as much in scars and transitions as in permanence.
