Architect, Professor, Romania

Andra Panait is a professor at the Faculty of Architecture, “Ion Mincu” University of Architecture and Urbanism in Bucharest, holding a master’s degree in Urban Management and a Ph.D. in Digital Processes. Her work combines architectural pedagogy with project-based research, visual arts, graphic design, and exhibition practice, with a focus on the design process, urban strategies, and the revitalization of cultural heritage. Since 2012, she has served as art director of the National Architecture Biennial and the Bucharest Architecture Annual. She has created international exhibitions and scenographic projects such as “Clin d’oeil au Bauhaus,” Geneva; “Art en campagne,” Collex-Bossy, Switzerland; and “La chambre de Pénélope,” Gallery “Ruine,” Geneva. She has curated solo exhibitions presented during Romanian Design Week and in other cultural contexts, including S-crypt, Timișoara, 2025; Kafkalegorii, National Museum of Romanian Literature, 2024; Objet trouvé, RDW 2023; Brut, RDW 2022; and Togetherness, RDW 2021.

She leads a studio with a consistent exhibition schedule, participating in projects such as Second Nature, Bucharest Design Festival 2026, Decoding the City, RDW 2025, When the City Whispers You a House, RDW 2024, Living Together, RDW 2023, A Cluster of Houses, RDW 2022, and Adaptive Workplace 22, RDW 2020.

She has been the UAUIM curator for the FAST exhibition, a member of scientific committees for EURAU and ICAR, and the information coordinator for the European Architectural Medals for the Best Diploma Project competition.

She is a member of the management or implementation teams for several national and international research projects, including ERASMUS+. Her projects have received awards, honorable mentions, and nominations in national and international competitions, including Kinderspace, Buildner Architecture Competitions, 2024; Dubai Sea House, YAC Architecture Competition, 2022; Caramel Shore Traveller Rooms, Latvia, Buildner Architecture Competitions, 2021; Bioclimatic House, OAR Bucharest; Berlin Techno Booth, Kaira Looro, and Staydium - Stadiums that Live Beyond Sports, Montpellier, 2020; 2019 Architecture Annual Award, “Research through Architecture / Participatory Architecture” section; Barcelona Barrio Social Housing Competition, 2016; competition for the design of public space through the opening of the courtyard of St. Elijah Church in Craiova, OAR Oltenia; Bucharest National Architecture Biennial, 2012; and the identity competition for the Bucharest National Architecture Biennial, 2012.
